• In the early 1970s, Hunt acquired 6,000 acres as agricultural property in the Rio Grande Valley along the border of Texas and Mexico. The passing of the North American Free Trade Agreement spurred the development of the Sharyland Business Park, which broke ground in 1998.
• Today, Sharyland Plantation is one of the largest master-planned, mixed-use developments on the Texas-Mexico border and includes industrial, residential, commercial and recreational uses.
• This community provides an affordable live/work environment for Global 1000 companies and employees. More than 1,800 homes, 4 million square feet of Class A industrial space and 250,000 square feet of retail/commercial space exist within Sharyland Plantation.
• Hunt donated 475 acres of land in Mission, Texas, to help build the Anzalduas International Bridge and Highway. The bridge opened on January 11, 2010, and allows traffic between Mexico and the U.S. At 3.4 miles, it is the longest bridge that connects the two countries. The Anzaldaus Highway corridor is located within Sharyland Plantation.
